Versailles

We ordered vaca fritas and cuban style chicken. They were really good. I think chicken was better to my taste. Rice was really good. Perfectly seasoned. Ceviche for appetizer was good, so was calamari.

I didn't really have any expectation for this place because I have no idea what cuban food is like. They were really good. I wanna go there again. We ordered cuban coffee and pastries (guava and the flan with cheese) which were so good. That is coming from non-coffee drinker.

I highly recommend this place. I would love to come here again.

The menu is extensive and filled with classic dishes. The Cuban sandwich was a highlight, packed with flavour and perfectly balanced, while the cafecito was strong, bold, and exactly what you would expect from a traditional Cuban coffee. The food is not only delicious but also very reasonably priced, which makes it even more appealing.

The atmosphere is vibrant and full of character, with a constant buzz of both locals and tourists. It feels like a place with deep roots in the community rather than just a dining spot. Fans of the film Chef will also recognise it as a key location where Jon Favreau’s character reconnects with Cuban cooking, which adds a fun layer of familiarity to the visit.

Service was efficient despite the crowd, and the overall experience felt authentic and unpretentious. If you are in Miami, Versailles is not just a restaurant but a cultural experience that should not be missed.

In terms of food, the taste wasn't necessarily the best, but it was still pretty good and definitely worth it for the price. The paella had pretty conventional tastes in terms of the rice, as it was clear that there was some tomato sauce flavoring the rice. The rice was a bit sticky, in a sloppy way. The ropa vieja had a good amount of beef which was great, and it was tender enough with good flavor, but I wish black beans were included with the dish. My colleagues ordered the classic dish and the vaca frita, and both looked like they got an abundant amount of food, which was a plus for sure, for very affordable prices. They had good things to say about the dishes overall. The catalonian style meatballs was a Thursday special dish and was also very affordable.

Overall, even though this spot doesn't have the most outstanding taste for its food, its food still has pretty good flavor, and this establishment is definitely worth returning to because of its affordability and vibes. People can easily find what they want here and have a good time with their friends.

The service was good, attentive and friendly. The croquettes and picadillo were especially tasty, and of course we ordered café con leche, which was just right.

My last visit was back in 2023, and I can definitely say there’s been an improvement. There was more variety of desserts this time, and the Quin dim was the best—absolutely delicious

A good friend of ours that’s a local in Miami suggested this location. Indeed it is magical.

The bar staff outside on the patio was wonderful and the drinks were spectacular.

Once inside, Nelson was an amazing server, and he guided us through a very extensive menu to point out some of the best sampler dishes to try. Each of them were spectacular. I wish I would’ve taken more photos of everything we ordered, but it was all 100% perfect.

I was absolutely moved to see the Cuban community come together in such a unique display. To see the local community, and world arrive at the doorstep at this location was really a sight to see. They might have amazing food, but the culture and feel, an overall vibe of the staff was something I have rarely seen in the United States. Truly a community restaurant to every definition. Highly worth attending, and we will absolutely make this a stop every time we come to Miami for a cruise. We headed over to the bakery for dinner and had an exceptional time there. Don’t miss both locations since they’re adjacent.

Fortunately we chose Versailles, and we were rewarded!

Amazing cuban sandwich. Empanadas were super flavorful and extra crispy. 😋 OF COURSE we had to get the cafe con leche. Make sure to get it with evaporated milk; it gives it an extra richness and creaminess. We visited La Ventanita to get some drinks to go as well!

On our last day in Miami, we went back again for one last round of Cafe con Leches and empanadas. We also tried the Media Noche that time and it was SO delicious. 🔥

With all the popularity, definitely expect a wait. We waited 30 mins but it felt like less than that. Service was pretty good. Our waitress was sweet and kind to the whole family, but she didn’t come around much to see if we needed anything. Might’ve been covering too many tables. Not sure but it was still a great time.

Also make sure to stop by the bakery after for some espresso and baked goods. All were tasty and affordable

From the start, the service felt cold and impersonal. When we arrived, the hostess asked for my name, wrote it down, and that was it. No smile, no “welcome,” no estimate until I asked how long it would be. She said 30 minutes; we were seated in about 15, so the wait itself wasn’t the issue—it was the lack of warmth.

Once we sat down, our server said hello and immediately jumped to, “What can I get you—drinks, appetizers, are you ready?” She didn’t walk us through the menu, didn’t mention any specials, and didn’t seem interested in helping us choose. We told her we definitely wanted ropa vieja and asked for a seafood recommendation. She suggested the shrimp al ajillo.

The shrimp dish was the biggest letdown. The garlic sauce had a strange, thick consistency and almost no flavor—adding salt didn’t really save it. Several of the shrimp were undercooked and still a bit translucent, which is not what you want with seafood. The rice also didn’t taste fresh; there were some crunchy bites like it had been sitting for a while. The tostones were okay but not hot and fresh—I can honestly make better ones at home.

On the positive side, the ropa vieja was excellent, exactly what I remembered and easily the best thing we ate. Both the Caesar salad and the Versailles salad were also very good.

Overall, it ended up being a very average meal with a few highs and a lot of missed details—especially for a place with this reputation. Between the underwhelming service, the disappointing shrimp dish, and the long/expensive trip from the Beach, I’d give this experience three stars. Sadly, based on this visit, I probably won’t be coming back.

Even though the restaurant was very busy, everything was well-organized and smooth. The place was super clean, the staff were polite and professional, and the food was absolutely delicious the rice was fragrant and tasty, and the meat was tender and full of flavor.

The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the great quality and generous portions.

After our meal, we decided to order dessert and coffee, and the staff kindly guided us to their own bakery, which is located right on the same property. The desserts there were fantastic fresh, flavorful, and high quality, and the coffee was rich and smooth.
The dessert we ordered was one of their most famous ones, and it’s meant to be enjoyed with their strong Cuban coffee. Since I ordered black tea instead, it felt a bit too sweet for me but that’s just a pairing thing!

We also ordered a few items to go, and even though we ate them later when they were cold, they were still very tasty and kept their quality, so we wouldn’t deduct any points for that.

The only thing I didn’t really like was that the area for adding the tip was already highlighted with a pen, as if to remind customers not to forget it. I think that’s unnecessary because most people already leave a tip unless they’re unhappy with the service, which definitely wasn’t the case here.

Overall, this restaurant truly deserves 5 out of 5 stars. Everything from the food to the service and desserts was excellent. We really enjoyed our experience, and we’ll definitely come back here next time we visit Miami.

We went for lunch on a Monday. The large restaurant was packed with mostly locals. The Mojito with a piece of sugar cane was one of the best my partner has ever had. The food was very good. Ceviche, a Sampler Plate with Empañadas, Croquettes and Fried Yucca started us off. Mains were the Specialty Cuban Sandwich, and a Mixed Plate of Roasted Pork, Black Beans, Rice, Boiled Yucca and Plantains. We ended with Coconut Flan and Cuban Creme Caramel. And of course a Cafe Cubano. A feast that exceeded our expectations. Finally, prices are incredibly reasonable driving great value.

Lives up to its’ motto “The World’s Most Famous Cuban Restaurant”. If you have never been, add this to your must visit list including a Mojito as well. We will next go on a busy evening as I imagine that this is a very lively place once the sun sets.

Portions are generous, and the cuisine truly captures the essence of Cuban flavors. The paella and empanadas are highly recommended.

It's a very large place, with plenty of room to eat; you order first, then you pay.

Everyone recommended the guava and cheese bread. I ordered that, and I added a white meringue and guava pie.

Everything tasted good.
