Sanguich

Overall a must try and a definite return again and again.

Establishment looked very clean and modern. Food presentation and packaging was fancy. Sandwich was decent but lacked flavor. Bread was incredibly crispy but the sandwich was dry.
A Cuban sandwich in Miami was a bucket list item for me and this fell way short of the hype.
Im really not sure how this place got a michelin star.
I need someone to show me a proper local spot.

Now to the important stuff. The food. I haven't tried their breakfast, but it's on my to-do list.

The ham croquetas are fried to order, so they've always been fresh and crunchy. However, they aren't the traditional "cuban bakery" skinny style, which I personally like better. These are the thicker "de la casa" style (house style). But the flavor is good.

The sandwiches are well made but also different.
So farr I've tried 3 of them.

Miami Vice- did not like that much. Perhaps it's on me. Im not a huge ham fan, but it was highly recommended. The ham was alright, but it had way too much cheese, which overwhelmed the sandwich. I would not have it again.

Pan con Bistec-
BEWARE:
If you are looking for a traditional Cuban style steak sandwich, you will either love it or hate it. Their version taste good, BUUUT.... it's almost offensive to call it a "pan con bistec." This is no traditional steak sandwich. A regular cuban steak wich' is a thin steak typically cooked on a flat grill with mono and sautéed onions in a flattend Cuban bread with potato chip, lettuce and tomato. Theirs is completely different. Is like an almost shredded meat in a sorta tomato sauce with the potato chips and pickled onions. Again, it's not bad, but absolutely not what you'd expect.

Pan con Lechon-
This is my go-to. It's also not super traditional, but it's closer to it compared to the steak version. This sandwich is delicious! Shredded mojo pork with picked onions. The only issue i have with the pork sandwich is that they do not let you add lettuce and tomato to it. I don't care if I have to pay a couple of dollars extra. This would really put the sandwich on a next level tier. It's already good, but it definitely needs that bit of freshness to tie it all up.

I think they should add a few more options to their menu as it's sorta limited. Maybe a regular style pan con bistec/lechon, and call it traditional and call "their" version "sanguich" style. Maybe a Philly cheesesteak too and burgers?

Overall, I enjoy this spot. Has room for improvement, but I'd say give it a shot!

The menu at Sanguich features Cuban-style sandwiches with a gourmet twist—each flavorful bite was a testament to the culinary expertise behind the counter. I opted for the turkey and cheese sandwich, while my friend chose the breakfast sandwich. Both sandwiches were perfect in size and taste, reflecting quality ingredients and expert preparation.

In addition to the remarkable sandwiches, Sanguich offered a nice selection of coffee that complemented our meal beautifully. The positive vibe throughout the restaurant was palpable, and the friendly staff made our experience even more enjoyable. For those in a hurry, the window walk-up service is convenient and efficient, allowing for a quick yet satisfying meal on the go.

Overall, Sanguich is a must-visit for anyone in the Coral Gables area, whether you're a local or just passing through. The combination of delicious gourmet sandwiches, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a top choice for a fantastic meal—even for those on a tight schedule! I’ll definitely be returning soon for another slice of its culinary delights.

I was at their new location at the Plaza in Coral Gables this last weekend, and it tasted as great as the first time I had it about 3 years ago at their original location in Calle 8.

I like they are keeping the stores uniformity in terms of walls’ colors, chairs, etc. Yes, this location is much bigger and kind of more modern than the original but still you get the same feeling.

As for the sandwich, oh boy, I don’t think I have had a better Cuban sandwich in town, and I have had a lot of them. The quality and flavors are top notch, and the crispiness of the bread is at a different level, it’s just perfect.

The croquettes are not the best I have ever had, but they are at 4 out of 5. What I most like is that they fry it just for you, so it’s crispy and warm.

If I’m craving a Cuban sandwich, this is the place I come to. I know it won’t disappoints.

The bread has that perfect crunch on the outside while staying soft on the inside, exactly how a proper Cuban sandwich should be.

I ordered their “pan con bistec” sandwich (a house favorite) and it was “ok”. It came with a special sauce which definitely took not up a notch. The steak was sliced to perfection, the Swiss cheese melted just right, and it was interestingly filled with shoestring fries. Each bite was a nice harmony of savory, tangy, and rich flavors.

The staff deserves special mention - friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. They were happy to explain the menu and even shared some history about traditional Cuban sandwiches.

Beyond the Cuban, their fries were delicious also.
